Lions Honored
The Apalachin Lions Club Lion of the Year 2009-2010 is Lion Pete Premock (pictured at right) of Apalachin. The award was presented by Lion Stan Jablonski at the Lions Installation Dinner held June 19 at the Owego Treadway Inn. Lion Premock was recognized for his distinguished service and leadership contributions to  community and club efforts. His most recent contribution was starting a cell phone recycling program, which raises funds for Lions activities, and is also an environmentally friendly way for people to dispose of unused or obsolete cell phones.

Lion Jim Kane received the Robert Uplinger award for distinguished service. This is the highest award of the New York and Bermuda Lions Clubs, and is presented in memory of past International President Robert J. Uplinger. Lion Jim is a long-term member of the Apalachin Lions Club and has contributed to many projects including the annual Christmas seals project which he has chaired and improved for over 25 years.
