Owego Kiwanis Scholarship Awards

On Thursday, June 18, 2009, the Owego Kiwanis Club awarded a youth scholarships totaling $1,000 to Jared Douglas, a graduating senior at Candor High School.  Jared is the first president of the newly formed Candor High School Key Club sponsored by Owego Kiwanis.  Pictured with Jared are Owego Kiwanis Liaison Pete Windover and Candor High School Key Club Advisor Rachel Livermore.  Jared will be attending Binghamton University in the fall.  

The scholarship was given in the name of past Owego Kiwanis member Catherine Truman.  Jared Douglas exemplifies the academic and community-minded spirit which embodies the Kiwanis organization.Owego Kiwanis President Dan Sloat stated, "We are pleased to award this scholarship to Jared Douglas.  He has demonstrated excellence in scholastic and volunteer endeavors.  Serving the youth of our community is a primary mission of Kiwanis – here is a wonderful examples of the youth serving our community."
