World Mission Sunday
  Next Sunday (10/23), World Mission Sunday, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, calls every Catholic to celebrate, at the Eucharist, our vocation to be missionary and to help the Missions.
Help Our Local Catholic Schools 
  We have 10 parish children attending Our Lady of Sorrows-Seton Campus. Please help them by collecting labels, box tops, and by registering at Price Chopper for the Tools for Schools Campaign. By your participation, the school will receive many free educational materials, books, sports equipment, music supplies, etc.
Our Beloved Deceased 
  You may start bringing photos of your beloved deceased to place before the altar beginning October 29/30. We will leave them through the month of November as we remember all those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
Forty Hours Devotion
  Forty Hours is a period of continuous prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition. This practice is being renewed in the Diocese of Scranton in continuation of the Year of the Eucharist begun in October of 2004. 
St. Francis/St. Patrick Altar & Rosary - 10/19 
  St. Francis/St. Patrick Altar & Rosary Society will meet Wednesday, October 19 after the 9:00 am Mass. The meeting will be in the St. Francis Rectory. 
Pumpkin Decorating - 10/29 
  The Annual Halloween Pumpkin Decorating and Carving Contest will be held on Saturday, October 29, at 6:00 pm in St. Francis Hall. Pumpkins will be provided. Please bring newspapers and your decorating supplies. Also, dress in your costume. Sign-up sheets are in the back of the churches. Please sign-up the number of children attending from your family. Cider and donuts will be provided.
St. Francis Xavier Turkey Party - 11/17
  St. Francis Xavier Annual Turkey Party will be Thursday, November 17, at 7:00 pm in St. Francis Hall. All our parishioners are asked to turn out in support of this important fund raiser. Posters are available in the vestibules of the churches, please take some and place them in businesses that you frequent.
Bake Sale - 11/17
   St. Francis/St. Patrick Altar & Rosary Society will sponsor a bake sale at the Turkey Party, Thursday, Nov. 17, in St. francis Xavier Hall. All ladies are asked to bake their favorite "goodies" for the occasion. Please price your items. 
Little Meadows Fire Co - 11/5
  Little Meadows Fire Company will hold their Turkey Party on Saturday, November 5, at 6:00 pm in St. Thomas Hall, Little Meadows. Available for you to win are turkeys, hams, and pepperoni sticks. Please come and have a good time with the Little Meadows Fire Company.
"A Pope for Our Time" - November 5
  A Day of Reflection on Pope Benedict XVI will be presented by J. Brian Benestad, PhD, from the Dept. of Theology at the University of Scranton, on Saturday, NOvember 5, from 9:00 am to 2:45 pm at the Fatima Renewal Center, 1000 Seminary Rd., Dalton, PA. Fee is $25 which includes lunch. For reservations, call Irene at 563-1131 or email St-PiusX-Seminary@dioceseofScranton.org.
   Reservation deadline is October 24.
Rush Volunteer Fire Company - 11/12
 Rush Volunteer Fire Company will hold their Annual Turkey Party on Saturday, November 12, at 7:00 pm in the Ladies Auxiliary Hall, Lawton. Available for you to win are turkeys and hams. The Turkey Shoot will be Saturday, November 19, at 12:00 Noon at LaRue Park, Lawton. 
Thanksgiving Gift Cards
  For Thanksgiving we will be giving a gift card to a grocery store so that recipients can get what they truly need. We have 13 area families ranging in size from 1 person to 6 people on the list. Your donations (check or cash) can be put in an envelope in the collection basket. If you know of anyone that needs help, please put a note in the collection by November 14. As always, your help is greatly appreciated.
Confirmation News
  Parents and students who missed the meeting with Father Cas on 9/27 should call the rectory and speak with Fr. this week. If your child is in Grade 6, 7, or 8 THIS YEAR, and has not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, then he or she should be receiving in the fall of 2006 and you and your child should have attended this meeting.

Prayer List Update
  If you have called in the past to have people added to the prayer list, you are asked to please call the rectory and give us an update. There are 90 people on the list now and some of these folks may have gotten better, or even passed on, or for whatever reason, don't need to be on the list any longer.
